‘Love Your Neighborhood’ is a framework for asset-based neighborhood revitalization developed by Community One. It provides a simple, accessible, and repeatable framework for engaging residents and stakeholders so organizations and under-resourced neighborhoods can pursue neighborhood revitalization. ‘Love Your Neighborhood’ created a common language, approach, and tools used to transform neighborhoods from the inside out.
Every neighborhood has its own unique assets and challenges. But most people–regardless of where they live–want the same things for their homes, families and neighborhoods. Community One uses the LYN acronym to represent critical common priorities to bring wholistic restoration to neighborhoods: Livability, Youth & Livelong Learning, and Neighboring & Community.
Neighborhood revitalization is a facilitated where residents and stakeholders work together towards a shared vision. It transforms neighborhoods into communities that offer hope and opportunity for a better life.
‘Love Your Neighborhood’ initiatives follow a flexible listen, align, act, measure, and repeat process. This framework for resident-led asset-based revitalization restores neighborhoods and equips residents to sustain the work over time. Every great city is made up of great neighborhoods. And great neighborhoods are made up of great neighbors! However, some neighborhoods have experienced long periods of disinvestment and need focused reinvestment to help the residents living in them to experience the same quality of live as others.
The ‘Love Your Neighborhood’ formwork amplifies neighborhood strengths, aligns neighbors’ desires, builds positive momentum towards action, and guides revitalization efforts to bring lasting change to neighborhoods. It brings social, physical, and spiritual restoration to our neighbors.
