Getting Started
This website is the project coordination hub of our work. We invite homeowners in genuine need to seek assistance with housing repairs from their neighbors, and we invite community residents and organizations to join volunteer project teams to provide assistance to neighbors with these needs.
To get started, review the information below and register with a Basic, Volunteer or Coach account based on how you will use the site. Accounts are free of charge.
Basic
The Basic account is for those wanting to submit a project to be posted on the site. Projects should be housing-related needs for private homeowners (no rentals or public housing) and there should be a genuine need for the assistance, such as an inability to perform the work or to pay for the repairs or services.
Volunteer
The first step in serving with Community One is to register as a volunteer. As you follow the simple registration process, you’ll have the opportunity to:
-
Inform us of your skills and serving interests.
-
Tell us about any special tools or equipment you have.
-
Join (or create) a COMMUNITY to serve with, such as your church, company, civic group, school or organization.
After registering, you’ll be able to browse and volunteer for projects that have been selected by a project Coach (coordinator) for completion. Project Coaches will also be able to invite you into projects that match your interests or skills, and guide your serving experience.
Coach
Coaches are the key to project organization and completion. Coaches have access to the list of pending projects and the contact information for the applicants. Coaches review and choose the projects that they are willing to organize and coordinate. Once a Coach selects a project, the project becomes available for volunteer participation.
Coaches are typically skilled in the types of projects they select, and are willing to invest some additional time in contacting the applicants, coordinating supplies and directing the volunteers in completing projects.
The Coach will arrange for the Volunteers to meet at the project location at the scheduled time and complete the project. Once a project is finished, the Coach will follow-up on the project listing to mark the project as complete.
